Hi Guys,

Looking to build a new box and would like to get some thoughts on the setup I am thinking about going with.

Here are the important parts:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 512KB L2 Cache 64-bit
EPoX "EP-8HDA5+" K8T800 Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket 754 CPU -RETAIL
Mushkin 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3500 Level One Dual Pack - Retail

Is my ram choice okay, or is there something that will perform better? Here is the link: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-294&catalog=23&manufactory=BROWSE

What kind of fan should I be getting to overclock? I have been looking at two by thermaltake - the venus 12 and the silent boost, as well as the Swiftech MCX64-V

Here are some links to the fans:

Thanks in advance for any help!!

If you're going to be overclocking (now, or in the future), I would recommend you spend $99 for this motherboard: link. It has the nForce3-250 chipset, which has working PCI & AGP locks, so it's much better for overclocking. Also, if you plan on overclocking, I would recommend getting faster ram, at least PC3700, preferably PC4000.

i personally use the volcano 12/venus, its a great heatsink and all for the money but its godawful loud at full speed and moderatly loud at its lowest speed. it also weights 700+ grams. it does however offer a great bang for the buck if your not willing to throw down the money for a thermalright heatsink(if you are serious about overlocking, don't cut corners, get a thermalright).

that swifttech cooler is suppose to be pretty decent but can't touch the venus performance and it takes a huge performace hit when it gets slightly dirty from what i've heard. you would have to clean it reguarly.
