I've been running 3dmark a lot lately, adjusting the agp apertures (haha for no reason), and basically working out the best configuration for my graphics card's overall performance:Quality. well anyway... i've heard people talking about pretty basic tools for overclocking graphics cards, and i was curious if anyone knows what these programs are? thanks for the replies>

ATiTool is really nice. It has a built in artifact tester, and will find max artifact free core and mem overclock automatically. It has a 2D and 3D profile that will automatically switch clock speeds when a 3D app is detected.

Hey there,
Got a link for this? I searched on ATI's site and came up empty. I'm currently using Riva Tuner but would like to experiment to see if I can get more than 365 core/325 memory out of this Sapphire 9800NP.

hey old fart, i've got a question with this tool: whenever i run find mem max, i always get insane artifacts that spread all over my desk top and the fuzzy ball. it doesn't find the slightest artifact and back down, it just keeps going up after finding artifacts. do you know what is causing so many artifacts perhaps?

I think Rage3d Tweak is the best overclocking tool for ATI cards. It has pre-defined settings that are tuned for various programs, including 3dMark.

Dont know. It went up until it found artifacts with mine and backed itself down until they cleared.

What I like is the 2D/3D mode. I run my 9800P underclocked to a 9500P level (275/540) in 2D mode, and it switches to 415/740 in 3D mode.
