I had to remove my display because Windows went blank due to incorrect hardware setup when booting Windows. Looking around my downloads folder, the latest nVidia graphics driver I has is from 2005. What's a good dependable driver with cool features. Thanks.

nVidia stopped adding anything for the 6xxx cards after 84.25 (early 2006), and some of the things in newer late 2006, early 07 Forceware packages conflicted with the 6200 and the 6600 cards, including yours. I have heard that there was an "81.xx" driver that was supposed to be better, and the 84.25 was never certified as WHQL (it remains a Beta), although it worked just fine for my own 6600 GT.

Looking at my own copies of back-dated Forceware, the 81.98, which was also the final W9x driver, may have been the same Forceware described as being optimal by a couple of hardware advisory articles I've seen, like this one at nZone:

Get the 84.21's and don't look back. They are pretty much the best drivers for the 6600gt. They are what I use on mine.

Thanks, folks. Glad I asked!

I'm downloading it right now, the WHQL 84.21.

I recommend 94.24 beta. I'm using it and it helped me go from 4116 on 3Dmark05 ( using ( 93.71 ) with my 6600GT @ 550/1250 to 4228 ( 94.24 ). Plus it solves that problem with CoolBits where the mem reads 2x what it actually is.
