Good non-Apple MP3 player recommendations?

I use a seperate standalone MP3 player, because I take it kayaking, camping, and hiking through places that have already killed two phones. Also, when camping, I hook it up to a small speaker, and pretty much leave it on, and you can't recharge a phone in the middle of a National Park or Forest (dispersed camping).

I've had a Sansa View forever, but it doesn't like to hold a charge well anymore. I will not buy anything Apple makes; personal choice.

So, can anyone reccomend a good MP3 player? I don't have a huge collection, it easily fits in the 8GB of the View. I would love something guaranteed waterproof. I do not care about video/etc, or lots of bells and whistles; just to play music.

Haven't done much research yet; was thinking this is a good place to start.

I use my thunderbolt (phone) as an mp3 player. While I like my thunderbolt (with extended battery) I would advise against getting one now : p There's some sony phones coming out that are waterproof. I'm guessing your not going to jive with that though, but I felt like putting it out there as viable.

I love my Zune. Been thru 3 version now with excellent experiences with each one. I'm vey rough on my equipment and they've taken a beating. Even dropped one into the ocean once and didn't lose it. I then found a waterproof case to be on the safe side. I know MS quit making these but you can still find them for sale.

Cowon makes some good mp3 players. I still have my Cowon U2, and it rocks in terms of audio quality and features. Also, check out anythingbutipod.
