So, when Safari 4 Beta came out, Inquisitor got broken. And a lot of people didn't really care that much since all they wanted was the autocomplete that Inquisitor brought to the table.
Well, i was not one of those people. I cared a lot that Inquisitor was broken since in addition to the autocomplete, I also used it for keyboard shortcuts to common sites. I could type in 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure' and hit CMD+SHIFT+A to go see the prices on Amazon. Or hit CMD+SHIFT+D to see if it could be 'acquired' via Demonoid. CMD+SHIFT+W for Wikipedia, CMD+SHIFT+I for IMDB, it was great and I used it religiously.
The best part was that I would open a new tab, hit TAB to jump to the search box, type my search and then the shortcut and that tab became that page (then, by hitting a new shortcut I could jump to the next page... so without opening a new tab, I could go from seeing the info on IMDB to buying it on Amazon).
All that went away with Safari 4 and I was a sad panda, until I found Glims.
Glims not only gives you autocomplete (which seems to autocomplete a little too quickly), and the shortcuts that i love, but also the ability to full screen (which I do not use), favicons on the tabs (which I like), the ability to undo a tab closing with CMD+Z, and most importantly, site previews for Google and Yahoo searches. It does other stuff too, but those are the highlights.
Here is the problem. If I do like I did with inquisitor (new tab, jump to search box, type and hit shortcut) the search comes up in a new tab, which annoys the ever loving crap out of me.
But no more. Inquisitor works with the Safari 4 Beta now. And by turning off the Search stuff in Glims, I have the best of both. Favicons, site previews and CMD+Z, plus autocompleted shortcut searches the way I like them.
