Due to a recent, nearby school district implosion my home value has shot up almost 20% in the last couple of months!

There used to be two border schools districts in the area between the shitty, gang infested, violence and drug ridden school districts and the nice, academically sound, upper middle class, ass rapingly high property tax enclaves.

Well, now there is one. That other border district is being folded into a nearby stabby stabby school leaving ours as the only semi-reasonable choice left, spiking home values. Of course we'll need to keep a close eye on things as our district is the likely next target but I'm guessing it will be at least a couple of years should we choose to stay that long

Sell at the end of the school year. My snow bird neighbor is from Lapeer and is selling his house here. You could live next to me and the funeral home. Win, win...me and zombies.

Why on earth would anyone want to live near you?! I kid I kid. You seem like a nice guy

The south has a lot to offer. If it weren't for the heat, there's a few southern states that would be near the top of my list.

Yeah - I don't do humid heat well. But who knows - it would be a bit before we would move anyway

The older I get, the "less" I mind the heat. And no snow in the winter.

The price you have to pay for hunting zombies over a baited field.

Nice is a relative term.:p

Maybe the school district can then afford paper for tests now that the value of homes can afford an extra $2-3 / month in taxes

Not sure if serious

Different area. There are a lot of schools in dire trouble in Michigan right now. My wife's school made some terrible decisions to avoid state take over. The school near where we live decided to consolidate with the shit hole to their north in order to save the district and secure state funding. Its an odd twist of irony. The north district's property values never really declined much because the area was already depressed due to crime rates. So its actually more financially stable from a school standpoint although something like 40% of their student population is sent elsewhere to school. Bad news for the kids at the other district though
