The good news: SpamNet is now a fully-released product.
The bad news: They want $5/month for you to use it. Now that's not all that much, and it's extremely effective. But still it kinda sucks. I guess when I started using it, I was under the impression that it would be a one-time cost, not a monthly fee.

I only got to skim the release notes quickly this morning as I d/led the latest version. Will the program still work in a somewhat crippled version for free, or is paying the only option?

Not sure. I'm still using the beta and they don't say when they will cut off beta clients. The whole thing is kinda vague, actually. I can't even figure out how you go about paying. Maybe it's built-in to the 1.0 client.
