Good netbook or small laptop for wife?

We have an old Dell 8600 she's using now and it's time for an upgrade. She mainly uses it for surfing the web and Skype.

What would be a good netbook that's decent speed, got a decent camera, 'cute' factor, etc?

Price - $300-$500
 
why do you need an upgrade if the 8600 can do the web surfing and skyping pretty well already? Do you want better battery life or better performance or what?
 
She wanted something smaller, built-in webcam, lighter, etc.

The performance is also lacking a bit, so I wasn't sure if it would be better worthwhile to put $150 or so into upgrading the memory/hard drive in the current laptop or using that money to get a new, sleeker netbook.
