Freedom, this can't be a serious ques. What part of NY do you live in? As of now, I think any person reading the daily papers can tell you the hottest spot to live in is Williamsburg. Probably the most secure & SoHo-like neighborhood this side of Manhattan. 5-15 min commute to the city at best, inc. public transportation.
Good luck.

I grew up in Flatbush, well not really Flatbush, more Midwood. Nice neighborhood, perfectly safe at night.

I hate how people think Midwood is Flatbush. Flatbush is farther north than Midwood.

Hey,
I know williamsburgs the "it" place to live... I don't think it's the right 'hood for my parents though.. I mean, I'm moving out in a year so it wouldn't be fair to more them to a hipster area just for the scene, know what I mean ?

Try Brookly Heights (really expensive). Bay Ridge is a nice place to live too.
