Why don't you move to Queens instead. You can find a very nice place for that amount.

Queens > Brooklyn:D

Brooklyn is NYC. Yes, there is more to NYC than just Manhattan.

Try Queens. Lol.;)

i'm on 7th avenue, on flatbush. very close to manhattan, awesome neighborhood with loads of things to do. lower rent, cheaper food, cheaper entertainment than manhattan. 20 min subway ride to the city.

Try Brookly Heights (really expensive). Bay Ridge is a nice place to live too.

Freedom, this can't be a serious ques. :D What part of NY do you live in? As of now, I think any person reading the daily papers can tell you the hottest spot to live in is Williamsburg. Probably the most secure & SoHo-like neighborhood this side of Manhattan. 5-15 min commute to the city at best, inc. public transportation.

Good luck.

I grew up in Flatbush, well not really Flatbush, more Midwood. Nice neighborhood, perfectly safe at night.

Hey,
I know williamsburgs the "it" place to live... I don't think it's the right 'hood for my parents though.. I mean, I'm moving out in a year so it wouldn't be fair to more them to a hipster area just for the scene, know what I mean ?

I hate how people think Midwood is Flatbush. Flatbush is farther north than Midwood.

Not just for the scene, but for the scenery. You can view the island of Manhattan from almost any part of Williamsburg. My experience living there has been great. They've recently put up condos there for under 350k. Security is also a big part of the community, as you have more & more celebrities movin' in. There are a lot of hipsters there, but they haven't completely taken over (there are still plenty of oldies livin' there). Give it a look. :D

bensonhurst used to be a great place to live in. its changed now a little bit, but i still love my neighborhood. Queens is quite possibly the WORST borough to live in. If you want something nice go to Brooklyn. Be warned, car insurance rates are insane in Brooklyn.

Bay Ridge is nice. I had a friend from college who grew up there.
