So I tried Exact Audio Cop and it was so complicated to setup and didn't even allow me to rip to MP3 selecting the bitrate that I want, it had them rated in khz which were kind of loseless large mp3s but I couldn't for the life of me firgure out how to choose the bitrate.

I didn't wanna waste any more time and wanted a straight forward program

any good recommendations out there?

Thanks

I use Audiograbber because it is so efficient and easy. It uses LAME. And, it is free.

I am an Anti- IE and Anti- WMP person because I hate the interface of both of them.

I hate WMP in full screen mode because when you are navigating quickly between the diff. parts of a movie, the seekbar is too big and takes a while to disappear when you move your mouse away from it.

Not good for my Pr0N collection

And I don't wanna install WMP just to rip CDs, I am using WMP Classic-Home Cinema FTW with the Sharky Codecs for now so I just wanted a good and easy to use mp3 ripper

I was almost gonna install that but I hate programs that require to download extra plugins for them to work properly

At this day and age, it is sad for a program to require you to download anything for it to function

Guess Im gonna have to bite the bullet and purchase Easy CD-DA Extractor as I've used it in the past years and liked it

Ok I ended up purchasing dBpoweramp since Easy CD Creator's developer was taking ages to process my order and when I asked on their forums a moderator deleted my entire thread!

That's what a I call crappy support! Thank god the order didn't go through!

Thanks for all your suggestions

I've been using CDex v1.51 for some years now and it does everything I want/need without too much effort. The software is free, works under win7 and has some nice features like retrieving CD/track info from remote CDDB. It may be worth a look.

Did you read the post I just made or not? Thanks for your suggestion but I already purchased dbPoweramp

Yes I saw your post and I wish I had seen this thread earlier. Still my post may help somebody else. Besides, if you like my suggestion it may also help you as the software I suggest is free and you can install it on another pc without having to pay for an extra license, or just use it as an alternative.

I use EAC to rip to FLAC then convert to whatever format using dBpoweramp (though I just leave them FLAC usually).

dBpoweramp can convert to FLAC directly.

I tried EAC before opening this thread actually and had to reinvent the wheel to get the initial setup done and I still couldn't get it to give me the option to rip to mp3 at a bitrate I want, it just had some khz values which were too confusing. This program is good for the pros but not for someone who just wants to simply rip a CD. With that said, dBpoweramp has the same advanced features of EAC but with a user friendly interface and it is straight forward

The issue with uding dBpoweramp to rip, and it may have changed since the last time I checked, but it's an unsecured ripper. Aside from better error correction, there's a concept of jitter which may not be meaningful when you're saving to a lossy format.

If you want to read more on ripping, I'd recommend the site MyCE.com (formerly CDFreaks.com).

Sounds like you were looking at sample rate, not bitrate. Compression options are two clicks away, and once you've set up your encoder, ripping a CD to MP3 is a single click. BTW, which encoder did you use?

UI appearance means little...some of us still use black windows with white text to accomplish tasks, like tweaking LAME to within an inch of its life. WMP includes Fraunhofer, and it's one of the easiest rippers (if not THE easiest) to use. High quality transcoding PLUS ease of use? And you pass it up without so much as an audition cuz you don't like the UI?
