I really like listening to movie music. Does anyone have any good recommendations? Examples are themes from Forrest Gump, Armageddon, The Rock, The Natural, Glory, etc. Stuff that is inspiring or motivational, or just anything good. (no lyrics)

Thanks in advance :)

I'd recommend pretty much anything by Danny Elfman. He does the music for a bunch of movies.

LOTR soundtrack is awesome.
I also can't stop listening to O Brother, Where Art Thou? altho I'm almost positive that's not the kind of music you'd like.

Romeo + Juliet (with DiCaprio and Danes) had a great soundtrack. If you like individual songs then get the Volume I. Volume II is the collection of scores in the movie. Also Great Expectations (with Ethan Hawke and Gwyneth Paltrow) has a pretty decent soundtrack too. The other stuff I like are Aladdin, Trainspotting, and (dont laugh!) Titanic.

Yeah Craig Armstrong did that score--he's awesome.

As far as other score composers, Hans Zimmer is very popular. My favorite of his is "Crimson Tide" but he's done a lot of more popular films (Gladiator for one).

Obviously John Williams scores are usually sweeping, grandiose melodies.

One of my very favorites is Michael Nyman--he did scores for "The Piano" and "GATTACA".

Another great one is John Barry-- "Somewhere in Time", "Out of Africa", and "Dances With Wolves", among others.

Hmmm... another one on the tip of my tongue. Oh yeah... Thomas Newman, composer of the brilliant music from "American Beauty".

My favorite movie score of all time is from Hitchcock's "Vertigo' (composed by Bernard Hermann).

Hope that helps!

It's not sound track music, but some of it's instumental.

BELA FLECK AND THE FLECKTONES. Amazing stuff, if you like it. Worth a peek. Particularly one song "More Luv"
