I am considering building myself a new system.

I was thinking about going with a AMD 1.4Ghz proc. and a DFI AK76SN mobo.

I have only seen one review on this mobo on Tom's hardware and it was a positive review.

Mainly I like this mobo because it is said to be stable (again on tom's site) and it doesn't have a bunch of crud built onto it (ie audio and video built in). I prefer to pick my own components.

This is going to be a gaming machine but I don't want to get much higher than $1k if I can avoid it.

Hopefully some part of this message made sense. :)

I guess I forgot to ask for opinions. :)

Or perhaps I assumed that you all would know I was looking for opinions.

:D Hey Bird! Should've put "DFI AK76" in your message title. Several people in this forum have them and love them. I just ordered one and a 1.2Ghz Athlon. Should be here in 2 days. They convinced me. There's a guy I think his name is Diesel who can definitely give you all the info. I'll post back maybe before this weekend and let you know how my assembly experience goes. I'm taking off Wed-Friday to build 2 new systems (and paint the bathrooms and bedrooms for the wife and me-self) that is if all parts arrive tomorrow as scheduled.
See ya.
