Good motherboard made by Intel for 805d?

I'm looking at picking up an 805D as a stop gap between my 2600+ xp and conroe. I just want a decent Intel motherboard that supports the 805. Intel's site doesn't seem to be updated though. I was considering the "Intel BOXD945GNTLKR" (945GNT) mobo.

I know I'll have to upgrade the mobo later, but I'm going to pick up a 7800gt or something (pci-e) and 2 gigs of ddr2 800 ram. Will the ram work in the 945 mobo and also when conroe comes out, in whatever mobo I have to get for it?

Thanks,
David

Anyone? I'd really like to know which one to buy. :) If Intel doesn't make one, is there a good Asus?

Currently no motherboard can be a stop gap between PentiumD and Conroe. 945 and 955 chipsets don't support Conroe. Only 965 and revised 975 can support Conroe. If you plan to sell both the board and CPU when Conroe come out, then just get the cheapest that support 805.

No offense my friend, but like your post in my other thread in CPUs, I'm not looking for a motherboard that supports both. I want to know an Intel motherboard that supports 805d. That's it. I do intend on tossing it and the cpu out. I was just curious if the 945GNT supports the 805d, because Intel's website does not list it as supported.

exactly. If a stop gap is a "must" and you don't do heavy multitasking, AMD is still a better choice. Boards and CPUs are so cheap, and you can keep using your DDR. They just don't have a ultra low end dual core like 805.

The thing is, I do a LOT of multitasking, all of my workstations are SMP, and I'm ready to have that at home. 300 bucks as a "stop gap" isn't a lot of money to me. I've been holding out for nearly 5 years on upgrades, "only 6 more months until X comes out." It's time I actually do something, and AGP has been limiting me. I just need to switch out everything.

Thanks for the tip on the support, that's all I needed to know. I want the Intel board because of my requirements for Solaris. Cheers!

I don't play the waiting game.. so I'm in a way, more fortunate.. I feel..

I opted for the Intel 975X... If it doesn't support Conroe.. oh well.. if it does.. I'll consider that a bonus. This board along with a 3.4GHz Cedar Mill will tide me over for at least 3 years minimum, since I'm a light gamer..

Bought the mobo, ram, cpu, and video card, 2 day shipping ;) Thanks for the help. I got the 945 for now, the 975x is 99% not going to work with conroe so I didn't feel to spend the extra bucks, especially with a lowend proc like the 805d. Btw, how does the 805d compare to a 2600+ (just one core comparison)?
