Hi Guys,
Am thinking of getting a Dual PIII 933 Mhz Coppermine @ home - which board do you guys recommend and why?

I am confused with all the options available and am a newby to the motherboard-level-harward-arena.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Amit.

Slots or FC-PGAs

Do you want stability or something that runs.. ability to overclock or none ?
Are you willing to sacrifice speed for stability ?

I want stability over speed and since I am not doing any such kind of work where every millisecond counts I would rather get something reliable.

In between slots and PGA's I really don't care as long as I can plug in a good AGP card, a good sound card and a firewire card.

Ideas?

After reading an article here i was thinking of the Intel OR840. I am also not hung up on getting a dual PIII - any good board which "supports" coppermine and 133 Mhz!

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Amit.

if you get that intell board you will pay out the rear for the special ram it takes.

I would reccomend the tyan tiger 133, or MSI 694D. Possibly the Abit VP6 when it comes out in a few weeks.

tomshardware.com as a roundup review of them, check it out.

I agree: MSI 694D or the VP6 when it comes out... I'd steer away from slot processors and go with socket - I think they're _slightly_ easier to cool, and might give you a less cramped setup with a dual.
