This is ATT's new Fiber-optic all-entertainment package with TV & Internet, currently in limited markets (mostly Texas)

I had it setup today. It was supposed to be installed from 12-2pm...but didnt finish until now (5.30pm)

with the 2 month free service, i ordered the top package (u400), this means i have:

1. about 50 premium HD movie channels
2. all local broadcasts
3. like 3 billion other channels
4. fox soccer, 20 fox sport regionals, all specialty sports channels
5. espanol package
6. DVR (& 2 extra receivers)

its a television overload. plus, the internet is at 2878kbps/941kbps. im gonna spend hours on my hdtv now =[

AT&T U-verse is supposed to be a partner for MS and the 360 IPTV upgrade. Rolling it out has been a PITA for AT&T though. Especially since they have to put up refrigerator size terminals all over the place. Nobody wants a big metal box sitting in their front yard.

i thought it was dsl, not fiber

my current apartment can get u-verse. the townhouse i'm moving to 4 blocks north of my apartment cannot. really frickin' annoying. i don't want comcast. hopefully the new place will be u-verse ready by the time football season rolls around.

Tons of that bandwidth is being taken up for the TV signal.

I live in San Antonio and they have U Verse here but the phone wiring is so ****** in my house that when I had DSL, it hardly ever worked. I don't even want to try U Verse.

They are just rolling this UVerse thing out in the Milwaukee, WI area but their packages are no better than my craptastic Time Warner. I already have 5meg internet for $35/mo and they can't do much better than that with their normal packages. They all include standard SBC/AT&T Yahoo DSL with 1.5, 3, or 6 meg down. Plus I already pay $50 for the cheapest cable option and AT&T's cheapest is $59 for the U200 package without the internet. Won't be saving much but would at least get the 3 receivers and one being a DVR so that'd be a small benefit.

I still wish someone would just give me the 20 channels I actually watch and charge me $30.

that is a lot of TV dude

with roughly only 5 of them are good

fixed.

and those 5 will never play anything but reruns of movies you've already seen 20 times and they'll only rotate those 3 or 4 movies all day long.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the upload 3x as fast as Time Warner's, which is capped at 384kbps or 512kbps? If so, this U-verse stuff is better for torrents... And available for me!

You sure on the pricing? Here its 79 for U200 + internet.. so figure 40/40 for tv/web with no contract, no equipment rental, dvr and extra receivers, and it's a great deal

$79 for 3mbps/1mbps and 200 cable channels with 3 receivers.. Not bad. Roadrunner is about the same but 5/512 and regular cable.

i like the digital cable guide. has PIP while i surf the listings. can preview programs days ahead (and record them). the receivers dont have to run off of coax... if the modem ('gateway') runs off the ax, it can feed data to receivers through Cat5

Yeah, I called up AT&T to ask. U200 is $79 with their slow internet (1.5/1) or $59 without any internet. The internet is the same thing you can get for $14.99/mo straight through their website. You can up it to the "Pro" speed (3/1)for another $5/mo and to the top 6/1 package for a bit more but I don't see a price on that.

It's great if you use all the channels and things but for someone like me who just wants the most basic of basic, it's still the same as Time Warner.

And I have the busienss settings for TW so I'm up to 768 or 1 meg for up and 5 for down.

The $14 dsl pack is 768/128 not the 1.5/1 that U-verse offers. They do also offer u100 and ufamily packages with less channels . Not sure what the prices are on that as they are not advertised on their website.

I have had this service for a while and looks like they are finally ready to roll out it on a large scale.

also the prob with 15$ dsl is the slowww upload... and it requires a phone line service . the minimum phone service required to get that dsl will total 31$/month (phone, bs taxes, and dsl service)... and its contractual
