well i think my mobo is dead, post here if you have any ideas http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=27&threadid=1570560&enterthread=y

anyway, my rig is as follows:

¥ Athlon 64 2800+
¥ Chaintech vnfs3-250 (fried i believe)
¥ Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4200
¥ Samsung PC2700 512
¥ Zalman CNPS7000B-CU

what is a good mobo to replace the chaintech with? i'm looking for a budget, but effective solution under $70. If anyone reccomends a certaint board and has it for sale, pm me with price (as in im also interested in buying used).

well alot of good individual boards but no one is agreeing on 1-2 good boards. Hmm dfi nf3 sounds interesting.. but it costs $105 off newegg. Budget is a serious concern, unless the dfi is very very special? but i dont know , any other picks?

Asus K8N-E, DFI board is probably better, but I've been buying Asus boards for 10 years.

If you're doing socket 939, I'd suggest hte MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum...

At first I had an Asus A8V Deluxe, but I had so many problems with it and its dammn chipset (I may have had a faulty board, etiher way i got furious with it) that I got fed up with it and got the MSI board...

The MSI board is nF3 too...

It won some award here on anandtech on some socket 939 board round up thing too IIRC.

oh.... if you're doing 754 then DFI UT250gb (nF3) definitely. My friend has it (I built his computer too), it works wonderfully (he leaves his computer running for days with no problem)...

look no further.

i also recommend DFI for future boards :-D

your mobo will be on warranty, I can almost gaurantee it.

That being said, I like my DFI Lanparty 250gb.

the only success i had looking for chaintech's warranty is on their site you can request for a "technical submit form" (they dont supply phone numbers or anything). ill see where that takes me. If i do have to buy a new board, then it looks like dfi lanparty 250gb is a really popular pick.
