I don't game but I can use a game or 3 for de-stressing. I don't have a high-end system (specs below) and don't want to upgrade, but I just want to kill some time and some braincells.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Specs:
AMD X2-4200, windows vista, nvidia 6150 integrated video, 1gb ram

i still use Quake III and Unreal Tourney 2004 for little stress relief and splat sessions. Also Q3 should be dirt cheap if not free. It ran on my old 500 PIII with i810 graphics. (yes i said i810, puke)

Number munchers. Really old AppleII game I used to play in grade 3. Very educational and fun at the same time.

Carmageddon sounds awesome, I'll be checking that out!

As far as Quake 3/Unreal goes - I'm the weird kid who gets motion sickness from playing FPS'. Also.. Don't laugh.. I always get lost and bored, trying to find my way out of some cave or back alley.

GTA:SA is very fun.

UT2004 with the vehicle invasion mod is so much fun. put superberserk on and vampire. so much fun. can easily get 700-800 kills without dying even on the harder settings.

Personally for a dos game I like Cannon fodder not sure if the one listed there is the full thing though.
what OS you running?
You may need to run some of them inside dosbox.

Are you serious?! this collection is insane!! looks like almost every game from 1984-1997!!

Will everyone of them install and work?

You call that a low horse-power PC? Dammit, my S754 3700 and 6800GT is getting too old to fast.

Most but not all. For the hell of it I tried the play The Dig by Lucasarts since it was the only adventure game of theirs I never played. Didn't work for me, even with Scumm.

Dues Ex, Max Payne. Both easy on the comp and both have incredible game play and story lines. I play each at least once a year.

not to hijack my own thread, but it feels sooo oldschool under vista - everything is click...wait...open vs what I'm used to.

I was referring to my videocard, mostly. And my memory usage is always at 80+% on vista so I don't think playing say doom 3 would be possible

Buy a $50 video card and you should be able to play any modern game at moderate settings.

My GS7600 handles wow, CS:S, Xplane, MS flight sim X, Civ 4, all at top or near top settings with decent frame rates.

I paid $50 for it on FS/T

Or you could upgrade to XP, still a very viable OS and will be for at least a year.
