good memory?

can anyone suggest some good memory to go in my new computer.

the mb im going to be using is the asus p5w dh deluxe and the processor will be the core 2 duo E6600. i am after 2GB of ram and would preferably be a kit of 2 modules as 1 is very expensive. i am prepared to spend up to £200 but i would prefer it to be lower than that(about £150-).

im using corsair value series ram 2gb (2x 1gb sticks) and they haven't given me any problems so far. been performing pretty flawlessly plus their cheap.

i was thinking of getting some corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 2x1GB 240-Pin DIMM XMS2-6400 CL4. would that be good enough.

does the P5W support pc2-8000 everywhere ive look says it only supports upto pc2-6400? that crucial memory looks great, but the latency is higher and im not sure if it will work, please post back with results of how well it works.

i see it says the Crucial Ballistix DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) (5-5-5-15) (D9GMH) (2.2v) ($309.99) for the E6600 but would this be compatable with the asus P5W as i dont think it supports pc2-8000.

PC2-8000 is backward compatible (it will run at slower speeds just fine).

If you're not going to overclock, you'll only need PC2-4200.

ive been looking at some pc2-6400 memory that is CL4, would this memory be better than the other memory even though it has a higher latency.

i do plan on overclocking.

if you plan on overclocking, then get the faster stuf. that way when u do overclock, the memory wont be the bottleneck.

the crucial ram is working wonderfully with the p5w and an e6600
