Good MCSE books

Basically, I'm a paper MCSE. My company paid for the tests and I just studied the braindumps. Now I want to actually learn the stuff so I can put it on my resume in good consience 😉 Anyone have suggestions for good books are places on the internet where I can learn?

unfortunately, i don't have any good tips for you. i'm learning by doing. my job is giving me the skills required of an MCSE but yet i don't have the MCSE. i took classes but never remembered the stuff.

my suggestion is probably to go to amazon.com and check out the reviews for various study guides. go with those, especially if they have multiple positive reviews.

Why bother...? No one cares about the Minesweeper Consultant/Solitaire Expert cert for the EXACT reason you posted in your OP.

That's not entirely true. I see it as a requirement on quite a few postings on job sites.

Buy the Microsoft Press books I guess 🙂

Nah, those books are way too long and technical. I try to avoid as much microsoft documentation as I can. Besides, there's other ways i can get an 'evaluation' copy of win server 2k3

It's been a requirement for almost all of the job postings I've been interested in lately. 🙁

Sybex books are usually good. A few of their books leave out topics covered on the test, but as far as theory they are good.

If you want a normal book explained in plain fvcking english, get the MSCE all in one book from Osbounre publishing. That is the same series as Mike Meyers A+ and Net+ books which are great.

Thanks for the response. I ordered the Sybex MCSE certification kit for server 2k3. The MCSE all in one sounds like more what i want, since i dont' actually need to pass the test, i just need to be generally knowledgeable, but it got a lot of bad reviews on amazon so i decided against it.
