Who makes a good lucent winmodem? I really don't want to have to go generic because its for somebody else.
Thanks in advance.

One thing you have to be carefull of, newer zoom modems come with V.92 you might have to add init strings to force it to v.90 or 56k. It all depends on what equipment you ISP has.

I've had very good experiences with ActionTec Lucent based modems.

My favorite is the ISA ActionTec Master, which runs about $44,
uses the Lucent chipset, and is a hardware modem.

I really don't want to get an isa modem for future upgradability.
Hardware isn't always better according to modus and a few others :).

sorry bout the double post there, if you get a good win modem (lucent, USR) and put it in a fairly beefy system you will get the same results as with a hardware modem usualy. It is in Older systems that dont have the resources like Im sure your computer does that they can cause problems. You will be fine if you get a PCI Win modem as long as you dont get a cheapo..
