Don't worry about "low-carb"....think "low Glycemic Index" instead.
Unless you're doing Atkins or something, that is.
Well, sticking to low GI foods for snacks will allow you a greater range of stuff to pick from without triggering a bigass insulin cascade (which is, I assume, the point of a low-carb diet?)Originally posted by: Jugernot

Not Atkins specifically, but I'm on a low carb / high protein diet.

I like macadamia nuts. String cheese is good, as is beef jerky. But I find that after being on a high protein-low carb diet for a while your urge to snack goes away. My appetite has diminished greatly in the last couple of weeks, and I feel stuffed after eating a relatively modest sized meal. I don't have a scale, but I know I've lost a good amount of weight in three weeks. I'm wearing a pair of jean shorts that I couldn't even button a month ago, and they're loose enough I can pull them off without unbuttoning or unzipping! 😀

Pork Rinds...very low carb, but got that good crunch. Spicy BBQ is a great flava, so is Limon.

I thought I was gonna hate pork rinds, but I actually quite like them... DO not get the unflavored though. I couldnt stand them

Bananas have ~35 grams per cup (sliced). That's the same as Bryers Premium Ice Cream!
Meatballs often contain bread crumbs, which have a bunch of carbs.
Apples have ~17 grams per cup (sliced).
A 2.5" diameter orange has ~17 grams.
So, I guess it depends on what you define "low carb" as. Any of the above would be more than I am currently willing to intake. (I average between 20 and 25 grams per day.)

Not all carbs are created equal. The carbs in an apple are much less likely to spike insulin as the carbs in bananas.
Very true. It depends on your definition of "low carb" and what you are trying to achieve.Originally posted by: Amused
