How did I ever survive on a dialup connection?

Thanks to Northpoint's recent bankrupcy, I'm stuck on a 56k connection for at least another day. I've had DSL since October of last year, and I honestly can't see how I ever surfed the Internet at this speed. Every page just loads so slowly; I don't see how it's worth it to wait :|

It's only been a few hours, and I'm already going through withdrawal. To everyone who's not on broadband: how do you manage?

I have not been able to deal without broadband for years now.
I don't think I would use my computer if I did not have any fast access.

Yeah, dial up is very slow, especially when dl'ing large files. I can't wait until I get back into a dorm room with a fast ethernet connection.:) Alas, I am going to be stuck on this 56k until fall.

I had Verizon DSL for a year before I encountered any problems with it and when I did have a problem, the folks at Verizon could not get the service back on. My dsl was down for three months. Let me tell you, (as if you don't already know) it is a shock to the system. I couldn't do 56k. I refused to dial-in after a few days of crawling. My inbox had hundreds of messages, it was downright depressing. I have a friend who, due to where he lives, cannot get broadband, He calls me a "broad-band snob"...so be it. Dial-up is unbearable to me. BTW I gave up on Verizon fixing my connection and went with Speakeasy. 10 days after I made the call I was back in broad-band heaven. Speakeasy is a bit more expensive but the service (so far) has been well worth it.) Good Luck, I feel your pain.

because i've never had broadband at home (sure our school connection is lighting fast, but we are very restricted with its use), i dont mind dialup. sure i'd love to have cable/dsl, but i can handle this for the time being.
