Laptop resolutions should be higher though, since people generally sit closer to a laptop than a normal display.

The new XPS 1710 looks very nice. 512MB 7900GTX GO. :Q Faster than most desktops.

Yes the new Dell 17" displays are 1920x1200. The 15.4" were 1920x1200. Small print and super fine dpi. (145!) 2560x1600 on a 17 or 19 would rock big time. Nice thing is the latest gen GPU can push that display with no problem.
