Good looking shelves for displaying cases

Spending $100 at Ikea seems silly after spending thousands of dollars on great looking modded cases... unless you don't have any money left.

So I wanted to get something nice to display my cases while being functional at the same time so I could access them from the side of my desk. Having them on the floor is messy, IMO, I wanted them on shelves.

Went to Ikea, couldn't find anything I liked, I was being picky, but the $100-$200 wooden pine shelves werent doing it for me, I wanted metal, I wanted glass.

Then, I discovered that metal+glass = EXPENSIVE

But damn, I like the look of the following:

Anyone found alternatives that aren't as expensive? I know I'm going against my previous statement that $100-$200 is too inexpensive but $749 for shelves? I dunno.

You should be able to find some nice metal & glass racks, like the one you posted the link to, at places like Good Guys, Circuit City, Best Buy, etc., for less than 1/2 the price of that one. Obviously, you can spend as much or as little as you want on this kind of thing, as there are cabinets for just about every budget, but you shouldn't have to pay anywhere near $749 for a genuinely nice metal/glass cabinet.

You might also pick up an audio/video magazine like Sound & Vision or The Absolute Sound or something. These kinds of magazines often have ads in the back from companies that make those kinds of cabinets. Presumably they'll have Web site addresses as well, so you could do some shopping online.

Good luck. 🙂

THESE don't look too bad...

Though I think it's a travesty to put a tower case on these racks-- Looks out of place with the rest of one's A/V rack components. Gotta get a proper horizontal HTPC case to fit in, like this one! 😀
