Good LCD for gaming?

I'm upgrading from a dying 19" CRT. I run a 6800NU unlocked to 16/6, and I do play some newer games... but mostly I play emulators. Lots of NeoGeo, Mame, SNES, etc. I was wondering what a good LCD would be for this? I was initially thinking of going widescreen but I don't know how that would work with my emu's, since they run 4:3.

Also, say I get a 19" LCD that has a native res of 1280X1024. To run my NeoGeo games fullscreen, would that work OK or look like crap?

Thanks in advance to my fellow retro gamers for the help.

What is the resolution of those games that you want to play them at?

ANY LCD will work with graphics from that long ago. I don't really know what your question is.

heh, I'm also big into emulated retro games, although I mostly play old DOS and Mac stuff. Most of those emulators run in 640x480, so a 17" or 19" LCD will let you display that with no interpolation and only small black bars at the top and bottom.

I get NeoRageX running on my LCD at work which has a 1024X768 native res. It runs fullscreen with no problems. I don't really know what it would do with a widescreen monitor though... It doesnt give you any options, just somehow goes to fullscreen.

I think a lot of the old 16bit systems have a normal res of 320X240 or somewhere in that range. So I guess a normal aspect 19" would do fine. It's the widescreen I'm not sure about.
