As for your question holden, CRTs are in fact usually better for gaming but that doesn't mean that there aren't some great gaming LCDs out there. It really depends on your budget...if you don't have a lot to spend, you can get fast response times (minimal or no ghosting/blur) with a TN panel but don't expect the best color or viewing angles. If you want fast response times with better color and viewing angles, an S-IPS panel is the way to go. NEC's widescreen 20WMGX2 is gorgeous with fast response times, but it's also ~$560 for a 20.1" display. However, many people think it's about the closest thing to a CRT in terms of color and speed, so if you want to make a relatively painless transition to an LCD, the NEC may be your ticket.
