Good laptop company?

I don't have too much experience in the laptop market but I would like one soon. I am wondering if Averatec is a good quality company. They won some awards for their media laptops last year, and their prices are great. I just wanted to know if anyone had some experience with them...

I have the 3225hs and it suits my needs very well. It's pretty lightweight and the specs are decent enough out of the box considering the price. The only real isse I have with it is that it has a pretty cheap paintjob. The lcd bezel wears paint off of the keyboard bezel and is overall somewhat easily scratched. I got it for about $800, and that's not too bad for a 4.5 lb laptop.

check out your local staples. my staples has 2 models including the one you linked with the athlon 64. the smaller one was very warm when i picked it up, even when it was idle and at the store.

You get what you pay for. It is a good notebook for the money, but its not going to have the fit & finish of a Thinkpad. Two of my friends have them, overall they are pretty quick for the money (the A-XP models w/512 btw). One thing I noticed is they are pretty loud. During boot, you can hear the fan across the room. During normal operation, it is fairly low but the system heats up pretty quick. But if you need a small laptop for a good price, you can't beat it.

I'm just starting to notice the loud fan. Before I never realized it, but now that I use it in a semi-quiet classroom it is noticeable. I know that many users have had issues with the laptop getting too hot, but that's something I have yet to experience (and I often have it on my lap while browsing wirelessly). Sure there are nicer small laptops out there (thinkpad X series), but you'd have a hard time finding one with as low of a price as the averatec 3200 series.
