I have like 1000 photos piled up from my camera, and they are all 4-6MB each. I know they can be compressed better with no real loss of quality. TBH, most of them I wouldnt mind if they were 132KB. I can separate the ones I want to keep at the highest res. But for the rest of them I'd like to batch convert the entire folder into much smaller jpg files. What is the best program to do this?

Need clarification.

Do you mean smaller image dimensions or smaller file sizes?
Cuz thats two different things.

If you reduce the dimensions you will get exponentially smaller file sizes. If you increase the compression you will get the same thing but image quality will suffer.

I like ACDSee cuz it has lots of utilities including batch format change and compression. But it costs 40 bucks and I'm betting you dont care that much.

Awesome, here is the simple steps for anyone who wants to do the same thing:

http://www.ofzenandcomputing.com/zanswers/1028/

I converted the images to 1024x768, and they look pretty much the same. Average filesize reduced by 97%.

Even when I convert to 2048x1536, the size drops by over 80%.
