Good inexpensive TV out card?

What is a good TV out video card, I have heard that some have a crappy pic.

I am building a media type pc and want to have it run on my TV for movies and stuff.

Any suggestions that won't make me go broke?

Geforce 3 - try to get either the Philips or conexant chip for good output.

from what i've been told the absolute best tv out is from a matrox G450 16mb card with the s video dongle cable. At least this is what I've been told at Avsforums.com I'll proubly be getting one of these off ebay for my HTPC

Personally, I think you should go with the Radeon 8500LE...I'm doing the same thing but I also want it to be able to handle some games. Especially since I have a bunch of emulators on there. It's going for about 65 bucks. Great card.

Radeons use an (either separate or integrated) ATi RageTheater chip for TV-out. This is known for very good TV-out.

Please bear in mind that the TV signal (RCA or SVideo) doesn't allow for sharp high resolution display. Small print will always be blurry, that's in the nature of how TV works.

I have tried most Nvdia cards and a 9000 radeon card, best I ever found was a XFX geforce 4 ti4200 - the output was excellent - the colours were superb and once configured with tv tool no black lines.

Radeon is best, hands down. Matrox chips are limited to certain width and height moduls of movie encodes.
