Good idea for ricers.

I had a good idea today if you're a ricer. Maybe it's already been done. Basically you'd take some sort of a speaker and have it placed underneath your car by the exhaust or really anyway. As you rev the engine a sound synthesizer is hooked in to the RPM and as you increase the RPM you can synthesize different engine sounds. Perhaps one guy has it so that his civic sounds like a Viper. Perhaps another has his sound like a porsche with a hefty turbo on it. If you make it loud enough it would drown out your regular exhaust note!

I was going to say buy an actual fast car but whatever floats their boat (that sounds like the blowoff turbo valve that comes from the inside speakers)

Ah, so people have done it then! This would be external though!

interestingly enough, you can make almost any car sound badass... just gotta do the right mods.

Actually, this has been done before. Anybody remember that show "Beyond 2000"? I saw it on that.

Another good idea: Put a civic chassis on top of an M3 platform and go ricer huntin'. Convince them that all your mods are just stickers and "the speaker exhaust trick."

All I've gotta say is running a car with straight headers will make anyone shudder. A friend of mine put a test pipe in, and while we had the cat off, he started it up. Dang, we almost went deaf at idle....rev that thing up a bit & you'd think we had a top-fuel dragster!

Wonder if you could "hide" a lambo V12 in the trunk? Might actually need those 18" wheels to keep traction after that mod.

Do that to a Civic (or pretty much any 4cyl Honda outside of the F20 and H22 series) and you get a very loud swarm of angry farting bees NOT top-fuel dragster.

And yes... people have done that silly BOV speaker... I guess your idea would just be the logical extension. I think I saw that Beyond 2000 or some other Discovery channel show too. They can use acoustics to alter the sound out of the exhaust. The original idea was for noise cancelation.

Now some smoke generators in the rear wheel wells for fake burnouts... you got the entire package! :p

So how many horsepower can I get outta say a 100 watt amp? I already have my 2 foot tall Type R sticker that adds 40 HP.

Something semi similar was planned on being used in the new viper, except for the opposite purpose. They were testing putting speakers in the exhaust itself and cancelling out some of the noise with certain frequencies because the sound was too loud to meet regulations. They ended up not using it in the end due to some redesign of the exhuast but i found it really interesting. *note I learned about this when the lead designer of the new viper came and lectured near me.
