Good Hotels in Miami? Good travel site?

ndee

Lifer
Hi there,
me and my g/f(noooooo, no pics) are thinking about going on vacations to Miami. Can someone recommend me a good hotel? Or a good American travel site? How is the weather in October? The weather in Florida is always nice, right? 🙂(expect for this weekend)

Thanks in advance!

Okay.. my dad has a couple houses in south florida.. so i've been there a bunch of times. October is a great month to visit. You'll still have some nice humidity and warm ocean.. but it won't be hot like July or August. I can't recommend any hotels but make sure that you check out South Beach, Key West, and Ft. Lauderdale for late night kicks!

Sweet 🙂 How long does it take from Miami to go to Orlando? We're only staying a week and would like to visit Disney World. Would it be stressful?

I think that October is a great month to visit. I would definately not recommend Dec - March... or August (because of the rain).

You should definately visit orlando while your there... it takes about 3 hours or so from miami but just leave really early in the morning.. Florida is a huge state... probably a lot bigger than you thought.

won't everything be like, trashed from the hurricanes?
You know how if it rains in Los Angeles and everyone wrecks their car or drives at 15mph? Or how the city shuts down if it snows in Atlanta? Well, it's different in Florida. It's a hurricane. Meh.

My parents have lived there for 17 years (admittedly on the Gulf side). They boarded up the windows and evactuated only one (when I was in middle school). People are use to it, and if Miami gets torn up, it'll be back to normal in a few weeks.

For the OP, if you've got some time on your hands and want to get the best deal, you might check out Priceline for the best deals on hotel rooms. It can be a pain, but you can plan your strategy in bidding if you use these Web sites where others share the deals they've gotten (some also leave hotel reviews):
http://www.biddingfortravel.com
http://www.betterbidding.com/

Otherwise, the basic search tactic for hotels is to go to Orbitz, Expedia, and Travelocity. Look at the hotel prices at the places you want. Then choose the hotel you're interested in and go to the hotel Web site and see if you can get a better deal.

You might also try http://www.hotels.com/. I've never used it, but the site has been advertising itself heavily on TV and in print for the past year or so.

Thanks for the links! They're greatly appreciated and I gonna take a look at them. Do you think it's cheaper to book a hotel online or if we go straight to the hotel and book at the hotel itself?
