Good hotel to stay in London?

Anyone have any really good experiences with an affordable hotel in London? Preferably Kensington area, for the sake of convenience.

That or a site that provides good deals on hotels? Expedia and Priceline are turning up a lot of bad searches (the actual hotel's website provides cheaper deals in some instances)

Not sure it's of any use to you but my better half and I stayed at a youth hostel (we're not youths anymore) in the financial district for a pretty good rate.
 
i can give you a bunch of places near victoria station around 25 pounds a night
if youre set on kensington, best advice i can give is look around the train station
