Good hot sauce?

Anyone have any reccomendations for some good hot sauces? I am trying this habenero hot sauce and its just not hot enough.

Can someone point me to a place where they rate hot sauce for the hotness? Getting sick of subpar hot sauces.

I go for taste over heat... Blair's Sweet Death is my favorite. I have a nice collection of skull keychains to prove it. 🙂

If you want more heat, Blair's makes a whole line of sauces. Dave's Insanity is another big line.

I see you live in New Jersey. It's a bit of a hike, but in New Hope, PA there is a hot sauce store that I really like... lots of free samples (they'll let you sample most of their sauces if you ask)

daves is good. Blairs has a few good ones.

but yeah do a google search. there are to many to really list.

One thing I always avoid is carrot-based sauces. I don't know who the hell thought up that idea, but I can taste the carrots and they don't taste good.

You also want to avoid vinegar based sauces too of course, because that's the kind of sauce you're complaining about.

Blairs megadeath sounds promising. I wonder if I can find any locally.

Good luck with that. There is a store in New York somewhere that sells Blair's sauces, and the hot sauce store in New Hope of course, but I've had to order most of my sauces online. I bought a case of Blair's Sweet Death on eBay from some store in New York.

Be careful with Megadeath... I think that's about 125k scoville units if my memory is correct... Tabasco is about 2500. That's a huge jump. Blair's After Death (60k?) is pretty darned hot (I use it as an ingredient mainly, haven't used it straight-up since... the first time I tried it 😀).

Definitely not the hottest. But tastes REALLY good... I've recommended it before and most people that try it love it.

Sriracha

I know a lot of people who like that... I wasn't a fan, it had a strange texture. Not a bad one to try though, and should be available locally (I bought it at Target)

I love Srichacha! First encountered it in, out of all places, my high school cafeteria. They bought it because it was cheap and came in huge bottles

My favorite hot sauce is Habanero Tabasco, but that seems to be exactly what you're complaining about, so, heh, try Srichacha.

The Publix by my house has it too; I'm pretty sure I'd find it at Target and Wal-Mart if I ever went looking for it.

I honestly didn't know it's so widespread now. I always got it at the local oriental market.

Not Cool.

(Not sure what the best source is at the moment - I know the guy but I don't think he handles his own distribution any more.)

Blair's 16 Million Reserve. That's just crazy talk.

LOL at the ingredients for Blair's 3AM, which is hot as fvck as it is:
Ingredients include: Scoville Units/Capaisicn

 Pure scoville units as an ingredient? Madness I say.

yeah thats nuts. but damn i want a bottle just to own it. no way would i use it.

though that would make some great chicken wing sauce..

Blairs regular Death Sauce is by far the most flavorful sauce. Not really that hot, but incredible smokey habenero flavor.

If you want really hot, Blairs After Deatch has an awesome flavor. It is quite hot though.

It would make gallons of chicken wing sauce. You could dillute one drop in 200 gallons of water and still detect the heat. Blair's wax-sealed bottles aren't really intended for consumption, they're numbered bottles for collectors.

Tabasco makes a Habenero that has a suprising un Tabasco like flavor ... has a real hot spice with a hint of a tamarind flavor
