It has to be Black Mesa: Source, of course it's not out yet, but from what we've seen so far it's going to kick some serious ass.
I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy it if they don't take some liberties. I've already played HL1 plenty of times, if there's nothing new I don't think it will "kick some serious ass".
The goal is to make Half-Life again under the Source engine, from what we know there will be new sounds, textures and models, but they cannot take too much "liberties", or else you'd better just play Half-Life 2. There has been confirmation that some scripted events have been tangibly modified (we see one of them in the official trailer, and it does look more dramatic than in the original).
I myself would like to see new parts in levels (just larger levels overall), but the team said on many occasions that their goal isn't to create a new game, it's to take Half-Life and re-create it on the Source engine, something some fans expected Valve themselves to do many years ago, and that in my book makes it the best mod for H-L 2, if it wasn't for Black Mesa I'd say it's Garry's Mod, but G-Mod is more like an interactive tool than a mod.
