I'm buying a friend a new heatsink for christmas... what is a good one? I don't really have a ton of cash to spend so the alpha falls a bit out of my price range, unless someone wants to sell me a used one :) I have no idea what else is good. He has a 1.2 @ 1.33 ghz TBird, btw.

If price is a major concern then think about the Thermaltake VOLCANO II for $8 plus $4 shipping at newegg. It will easily work on your friends cpu. Look at the reviews there of users. Not my first choice but hard to beat the price.

Edit:
Pick up some artic silver to replace the pad that comes on the unit.

lol, sorry looking to spend <30 without shipping. I was going to get the Tiasol copper-bottomed heatsink... I have it and think it might do the job just fine.

Don't know if you can get lucky but newegg has had the Thermalright SK-6, ALL COPPER, Heatsink with Delta 60X60X25 38CFM fan for $19 with free shipping on their refurb site. Can't think of a better hsf for the price. Problem is you have to check a couple of times a day because they go fast. The refurbs are as new so no worries there.

Good luck, Ron
