Could anyone recommend a good heatsink/fan combo for the Duron? I'm going to be overclocking mine.

TIA

modify the alpha pep 66 /w a delta fan.... better than the hard to find alpha pal6035.........
not hard to modify.... just cut the feet off the pep66 and bend the clip a little so it will sit tighter.......

FOP32 works geat but may be slightly difficult to mount. Temps within 1-2 degrees of 6035, and lots cheaper.

If I had to do it again I would go Alpha definitely. I wouldn't go with a Delta fan because I here it is loud. Though the Delta has a 38 CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) rating. I had a Golden ORb, but got exchanged to a brand new Chrome Orb. I'm running my 700 @ 900Mhz currently, but I'm still tweaking. Don't forget the Arctic Silver thermal paste. It will add a 1 - 5c difference. www.inflowdirect.com would be my suggestion.

HecdTec, what's the temperature on you Duron? and was the Chrome Orb hard to install/very stiff?

It was no hassle at all! The Gorb was a bitch though. I had to use a needle nose plier to pull the tab outwards after applying enough pressure from on top to clear socket finger. It's pretty hard to apply that pressure with one hand and hope that you won't crush the die. This was the third time I took it on/off though. First was the install it, second was to remove the old thermal paste and apply Arctic Silver, third to exchange for Chrome Orb. The fan runs faster and the Mobo temps with the case closed is at 33c and cpu 35c idle (39c stressed). It's a bitchin' HSF if I do say so myself. Kicks the Gorb 7-9c. I would recommned the new one to anyone who would like decent cooling and peace & quiet for some load ass gaming. Sorry got a little carried away.

how about the agilent arcticooler fans (HACA-0001)? will they fit on the abit kt7 board? they look pretty neat, but will they keep the duron overclocked at a high MHz while lower temp? According to agilent,

Our ArctiCooler Model CA is designed to cool FC-PGA processors to 1.4GHz, and runs so cool (0.62 C/W with a 9x11mm heat source) that our customers at first thought that it didn't cool any better than our competitors' heat sinks (?!).

No I'm not trying to support them.. I'm a newbie so just wanted everyone's expert opinion! :)

Globalwin FOP38 is the best I've used. I have a Duron 700@1045MHz. Very loud though (40db) If you want that extra 40MHz+ out of your CPU then get one of these. I've used a FOP32 and it's stable over time at max MHz. My temp. is about 40-42c at idle and 45c at max cpu @ 1045MHz.
