is there one out there that can do this? the PS3 is the issue because Sony sucks and didn't just put a damn stereo plug on the damn thing. I know you can get ones that work with both the 360 and PC. but is it possible to get one that works with all 3?

Are you only wanting to use the headset for sound? Or is the headset for mic and still use your TV or surround sound for the rest of the sound?

If the former, then you can use the AV cable that came with the PS3, along with a female RCA stereo to female minijack cable (or a series of adapters) and just plug the headset right in.

I bought the turtle beach px21 headphones for $79.99 and they work on ps3 360 and pc. I use them alot to watch movies on the pc and I wear them when I game on my PS3. My neighbor has them and he uses them for his 360 so they do work for all systems

I have the Tritton AX 720 which works with all three and has microphone connectors for all three as well. They're not cheap though, ~$120 but they do Dolby Digital. Good sound but the bass isn't that great as I have other better headsets for my PC which sound very damn good. I use them practically all the time for my PS3. Tried them out on my PC and they worked fine as well. For me it was worth it as I can play late at night and not bother any one.

Get the Astro Mixamp, it works with all systems.

You can use your existing headphones and a separate mic from Zalman/Labtec/etc. The sound should be better than with any surround headphones if your stereo cans are good enough.

If you must have the headset as all-in-one, you could look at something like Sennheiser PC-360 or Beyerdynamic MMX 300. This stuff gets pretty expensive though.

Tritton 720's or Pro's are what you need. Best surround sound headsets around. All my CoD friends swear by them, and trust me man they would know. Our team was one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the world at CoD4 hardcore, and one of our former subs is the best BlackOps player I've ever seen. He has the 720's.

p.s. I'm not 100% sure they work with PC but I don't know why they wouldn't.

Does the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset from Microsoft work with the PC (or can it be made to work with the PC)?

so do any one own astros a40 as I am thinking of getting a pair since I want to be able to game at night while my wife and kids rest. Also considering turtle beaches but dunno, if any one own either please could you post your experiences with the headphones.

The consensus on the A40's among people in the know seems to be "decent, but way overpriced".
Astro Mixamp + Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 is probably your best option.

Some of you guys seem to be forgetting that you just can't plug a standard headset mic into the 360. It seems most of the solutions don't have an adapter. What is the solution there?

Buy a headset that is specifically marketed for such a thing. I saw one at walmart that I can't find on their website right now. I'm 99% sure it was turtle beach, it was ~$120, and IIRC was just stereo and not surround. Anyway it was packaged as compatible w/ all 3 systems, and specifically labeled as being able to control chat volume apart from game volume on the 360.

edit: I also believe it was wired, not wireless

That's my point. Many of the suggestions here are NOT 360 compatible and to my knowledge, there's no way to add this.

Turtle Beach is a good option and they do have wireless surround setups.

Trittons work perfectly on 360 and, yes, they work perfectly on the PC too. Adjustable game volume sound and microphone sound controls, along with master volume and plenty of other goodies depending on which flavor you pick up. I got the Black Ops edition 720's.

Does anyone have the Tritton AX Pro's? From what I've read, the surround channel separation is nothing short of amazing, but the quality of the drivers used is rather poor and dialogue sounds awful.

That's what I read and why I picked up the 720's. I also read the box that you hook everything up to was prone to easily breaking.
