Howdy,

Looking to get a set of headphones for work since we all work without walls there. It's a pretty quiet place, and closed monitor-style headphones would be preferable.

I've heard a lot about grados, but no one near me sells them, and I'd rather not buy online for this purchase.

Any suggestions? I've looked at sennheisers and didn't see any I liked. Thinking about sonys.

My head is slightly above average size, and comfort is a big consideration. Looking to spend about $40US or so.

suggestions?

Oh, buy it online dammit, everybody's doing it.

I bought a pair of Grado SR60s not too long ago and I think they're great. Got them at AudioAdvisor

Edit: Though the SR60s are an open design, I haven't had anybody complain about being disturbed, even at fairly loud volume.

oh, the reason I don't want to buy online is cos I'm in canada, and buying from a US online retailer is a pain in the ass.

And I said $40, not $140. I'm not a dj, I just need some tunes at work.

My last pair of Sony headphones lasted seven years and I paid $110 for them. The only reason I don't use them any more is because the ear pads are fscked up and it would cost about $40 to get new ones.

check out www.headphones.com
it got a massive headphone collections/database.

don't get any sennhesier at 4XX level, with the exception of the 495 as I heard.
the 570 are ok. my 545 is great! I had two 570 and sold them immediately coz the 545 is much better (not in looks though)

even I got them for around 50 bucks, it was from an auction site so the price varies..

another alternative I heard that was good is the Sportas (its a model name, I forgot the manufacturer)

I have Sennhesier 455 and they work great. Great dynamic range. I would recommend them

I'll second bigvince about AKG. I have the 240's and the bass is, IMHO, superior to the Sennheiser.
