Good headphones to pair with X-Fi?

Due to family unappreciation of 2am BF2, I need some headphones, I'm going to get some at COMPUSA or PC City so any suggestions would be useful. I dont' want to spend a huge amount, over 50 bucks

With that setup of yours in the sig, I don't see why you can't go higher on the headphone price. IMO, the best gaming headphon for around $100 is the Audio-Technica A500. This baby will send chills down your spine w/ the awesome sound location during gaming.

Two others you should give serious consideration to are the grado sr60's and the seinheiser hd260's. The latter is closed cup and the former is open air, but IMO, the sr60's are as close as you can get to hifi on an $80 budget.

I really like my set of Koss K26p headphones. They also make the k27i's which are ipod colored and have a volume control and even though they use the same drivers, people ahve said the 26 is better.

Fancy-shmancy audiophiles dont like them as much (but then again...they always say nah, these are too boomy or too muted or somethign...try this set that costs double what you want to spend, they are much better...OF COURSE they should be better...they cost twice as much) but after some burn-in they sound great to me. I really like how the mids come through and the lows are good for gaming. The sealed design also keeps out outside noise which is great.

acegazda - SR60s are a good recommendation, but he's looking for more gaming-friendly headphones. SR60s are bad in that respect, due to a tiny soundstage. About those sennheisers... I think you meant the HD 280 Pro headphones, which are also bad for gaming, but for a different reason - they have retarded bass. Seriously, gunshots will sound like pots and pans with the HD280.

As for my recommendation... the out of your budget rec is the Audio-Technica A500. These are excellent all-around headphones, and have a big soundstage so they're great for gaming. If you look for them used you'll find them closer to your budget.

The recommendation at your budget is the AKG K81DJ. These are closed headphones that have lots of bass and sound great to boot, and if you look in the right spots (I think buy.com has them for something like $55 or so) you can get them in your budget. Once again, these are closed, so they won't leak sound in and out.

The recommendation under your budget is the Sennheiser PX100. These are open headphones, which means they'll leak sound out, but it should be okay depending on how loud you listen to whatever you listen to. They have an OK soundstage, and are pretty good across the board (bass, mid, treble are all average). Newegg stocks them, and they have a good price for them.

the headphones I use are basically music only. Sony MDR-7506. But they produce good quality but there's no 3d effect or positional audio. Standard stereo only. They're $100 from any music store that sells recording gear.

I've never found a pair of headphones in the price range that can match the 7506's. I use them in a home recording studio.
