Good Graphics Card for $60 - $70 price range

I saw this PNY nVIDIA GeForce FX5200 Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-bit for $50 after rebate at Circuit City. Is this a good deal, or I may get something better around such price? Thanks I don't play 1st person shooting game alot but plays SIMS, MS Flight Sim, thanks!

I am thinking to buy for Newegg, is this

GIGABYTE ATI RADEON 9200 Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "GV-R92128DH" -RETAIL

a good one among all the others around such price range? Thanks.

Thanks for the advise, but all TI4200 VC that Newegg sells are over $100! Other than the refurb ones...

I only found the GIGABYTE ATI RADEON 9200 with most votes and good rating yet still within my budget... is the TI4200 much better? If so is there anyway to get around the budget I mention before I jump into the refurb ones. Thanks very much!

irenealan, what games do you play or plan to play? Because the 5200 and 9200 are the bottom of the barrel nowadays.

If the ResellerRatings(.com) for the store than Nick linked to are good, that 4200 is the best deal you'll find for a new video card.

Sorry guys for not following this thread and open a new one as I wasn't able to find this thread within the first 5 pages of listing... really sorry

Anyhow I think the link posted by nick is a good deal, $80 for a Ti4200 I think that's the lowest I saw... but is Visiontek a good brand? As Pete pointed out, it seems the online retailer has a good rating so I may get it from there...

But for another $15, I may go for the Sapphire ATI 9600 (man I can putting more and more dollars as jumping $20 from a FX5200 or ATI 9200 to a Ti4200 and now another $15 to a ATI 9600!) Is it really worthy? Really tough decision!

Just for the games I mostly play: Everquest, SIMS, MS Flight Sim, Diablo, Commando and maybe BF: Vietnam... but I don't play much First Shooter or online game... but I would like to build a HT to watch AVI movies from my TV by connecting the PC... so what do you guys think I should get based on what I use?

Thanks and sorry for not following and causes of inconvenience. You guys are great in this forum and help newbies like me alot!

Sorry I forgot to ask, so based on everyone's comment, the deal in Newegg today is not that hot?

Gigabyte ATI RADEON 9200 128MB Model GV-R92128DH RETAIL $65.00
VGA CHAINTECH Geforce FX 5200 128MB DDR . RETAIL BOX $59.99

right?

Right. A Ti4200 would beat up on those two cards for only $15-20 more.

...beat up with lead-filled boxing gloves.
The 128-bit 9200 shows just how well a GF2 can still compete 🙂.

One thing I don't understand is, is there much difference between a 64 and 128 bit card? Also there are 128 bit card out there like the ATI 9200 for a very low price, are they really 128 bit? I remember reading a post here that someone mention some cards are not really 128 bit so we got to be careful!

Also if I decided to go with the Sapphire ATI 9600 at Newegg (another $20 to add =P), is it a SE or Pro or XT? Which one is better?

Not SE. You can look at the PCB and tell if it is 64-bit or 128-bit.
Difference? Difference?! The 128-bit version has double the memory bandwidth! Yes, an astounding difference, particularly for such a minimal cost gap.
If you decided to go with the plain 9600 for gaming, you'd be silly. A 9600 XT only slightly wins over a GF4 Ti 4200, and then not even in all games. And that's not counting that most GF4 cards could get around a 20% OC pretty regularly, whereas 9600 cards aren't that predictable.

That's a nice card btw, my cousin owned one before getting his radeon 9500 pro, it was amazing, in fact, the only reason he upgraded is because all he plays now is flight sim 2004 😕
