I'm looking to get my Dad for Xmas a good GPS portable unit for his car. Something below $300 has has a good 4 inch screen. With touch screen and voice commands and easy to use with good map details of the USA and widescreen. Their is so many I've seen and have no idea what to get, any ideas?

Can't comment on the Tom Tom but I have Garmin and the Magellan 4000. I like the looks of the Magellan, great screen, but even though it's 2 years newer than my Garmin it's not even close when it comes to routing. I'm back to using my Garmin for everything now. Even though the screen is lacking in detail and clarity I like it because of the routing.

I'd like to know if voice command is any good? I'd like it so all my Dad would have to do is say where he wants to go rather then type it. Is this possible and if so what GPS are in the $200-300 range for that? I'd also want to make sure that the maps were accurate, and that it talks when saying stuff, like turn left in 120 meters. I saw the Tom Tom 330S and was wondering if that fit the bill. Is voice command even worth it? I also like this one

How's the C550's screen in daylight? I'm in the market for another Garmin and like the Street Pilots. My first was a C320 which does great as a basic GPS (way better than my Magellan 4000) but the screen is way too weak.

i've used the tomtom 330S, and i'm a big fan - it's slim and got the wide screen, and it's the most current device in that line of devices, so it'll have the newest maps. if you buy a new device, tomtom also has a 30-day map guarantee where you can download the latest newest maps for free. the 330S also has text-to-speech, which will actually say street names when giving directions, instead of just saying to turn left or turn right.
