[update 03/20/2008]

Just heard back from them. They're interested in having me for in-person interview. It's set this Tuesday! :D :D :D  for everyone! Thanks for being so supportive so far.. I know this is just the beginning.

[update 1:57pm]

So I had all the paper ready and secluded myself in my car in Target parking lot. I don't think the interview went well... I don't think I made any glaring mistakes... we just didn't 'connect', I feel....

She asked me how much I was making now and I said, "That info is something that is private to me but I'd be happy to discuss that in person." (As that's what we SHOULD do, never throw out a number first)

I think that REALLY threw her off. She said, "O--kay." in a very high pitched tone, followed by an awkward silence.

She said she'll get back to me next mid-week. I don't think I'd go any further.

Got a phone interview in less than 3 hours (noon). I think I'll do good, did tons of research on the company last night and have all the paperwork ready.

But god I get so damn nervous. I couldn't sleep last night and my heart's been pounding NONSTOP from the moment I woke up.

Argh. It's just a damn phone interview.

Meh, you'll do fine. If it's any consolation to you, I have a face to face interview with a panel of directors and managers.

Don't sweat it, man. It's just your future.

Ah, that was evil.

Good luck to you.

I am sure you will do fine. Much better than me. I have an interview at 4:30. It's my first interview ever. I have anxiety problems. I hope I don't pass out.

face to face interview is far easier for me. I can shake their hands, make eye contact, play the field to make a joke, laugh, etc.

phone is just annoying, solely depending on verbal cues and that's the test to get me into the in-person interview.

I'm sure you'll do ok, I hate phone interviews, but they are alot better than actually having to do in-person ones. What kind of position is it for?

Just take a deep breath, and talk clearly when you speak to them. Try to show that you are really interested in the position, good luck!

a full blown project manager. traveling 50-80% nationally.

something i've always wanted to do. im just about dead sick of my current job. I love the place and people, but it is now painstakingly mundane and boring... sitting in front of PC all day.

I despise phone interviews. I don't express myself nearly as well on the phone as I do in person.

I always get nervous before interviews but then always do really well on them.

Just the nature of it I guess.

You'll be fine.

Pro tip: The other guy has pants on. You don't have to wear them. Use this to your advantage.

Don't say stuff like that during the interview. It makes you look ignorant.

One thing to know is that whoever is interviewing you is probably just as nervous. Their ass could be on the line if they hire a dud, so the pressure is on them as well.

Plus if the person is nervous, you have so much power to control the interview. If you can make them feel less nervous, it puts you in a fantastic position.

Interviewing is a skill you need to learn. Best way to learn is to practice. It took me years to feel comfortable being interviewed and even to this day I still get some anxiety about the whole process.

I do generally fine in person. It's the full blown phone interviews I can't stand.

You know what helps me with interviews, presentations, or any other types of verbal communications that makes me nervous?

I pretend that i don't care about the outcome... it calms me down a LOT and i do much better rather than getting nervous about the result beforehand.

Why the local target parking lot? You should have went in a back alley with a 20 dollar hooker. You could have been getting head to put you at ease while on the call.
