as I was trying to find a pair of pants to wear tonight, i found an old pair of pants.

size 42. they used to be tight on me about 1.5 years ago when I weighed close to 250 (w/o clothes on).

I am now (w/o clothes) 189.5 and take a size 38 (maybe a semi-tight 36)!

what kinda sucks is that I still look chunky. any ideas on how to try to tone up? I am guilty of having man-titties and dont want them. I want pecks :)

help!

btw, I'm 5'10. what should i set my ideal weight to be? When I got to 210, I figured 180 was fine, but now, 10 lbs away, I'm not so sure.

You make me feel good about myself. I'm 215 and can still fit into a 36 (but comfortably in 38). I'd like to be about 190.

Congrats on losing all that weight.

Thousands of geeks are dying to know, whats your secret ;) Seriously though I am curious as to your exercise scheme and typical menu. I've got some pudgy friends who talk about just taking speed to thin down! Perhaps showing them a success story will give them a bit more motivation.

When you lose that much weight that quick, your skin is still "expanded". It hasn't had time to shrink down. The chunkiness prolly isn't a result of having a lot of fat now. I would get to lifting weights. You've lost a lot of muscle as well. It'll help to tone up your body and slowly you'll get rid of the flab. I went from 240 to 180....now 190. I'm 6'0 tall, and lifting weights helps a lot. Also, keep up your diet too.

It's been said over and over....eat right and exercise. There's no secret to it. You just have to be dedicated about it. You're not gonna see significant results right away. Many people give up after a month or so because they're not seeing the gains they would like.

Lift weights, free weights, heavy weights, go as heavy as you can, do 6-8 with occasional 3 reps when you feel up to it...

I know the heavy weights hurt, they hurt a LOT, if they do not hurt, go heavier...

I weigh 250 at 5'8 with a 6-8 fat percentage, that is very lean, if i could have my way i would always be at 6, but it seems impossible to keep it at that all the time... however 8% is still very lean, hell, even 12% is lean for most people...

Work them weights, and when it hurts real bad, do it again, that is how you get your pectoralis muscle to grow.

Im 5'11'' and lost a ton of weight also. I went from a very tight 44 at 283 pds down to a 32 now at 167 pounds. I think if you want to get skinny first you probably have some more weight to lose.

Also I cannot tell if I have extra skin or what but for the past few weeks I haven't been able to lose weight. my stomach area has this lifeless goop layer on top.

And it isn't hard at all if you educate yourself on the foods and calories and portions, and exercising can't hurt.

Christ!

I weigh in around 219 or so, and I wear a 38!

Everybody tells me I have heavy bones, but with you being 189 and at 38, maybe I'll believe them! :)

(PS, most of my excess fat is around my waist, too! :frown: )

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I'm 6'3-1/4"...

The truth is that the bones in your body only differs from other peoples by 1-5%, heavy bone structure is a myth.

I never thought it meant you have heavier bones hehe. No, when someone says, "oh he just a little big-boned" it means you are just a bigger guy physically, as determined in large part to your bone structure.

To anyone out there who is trying to lose weight...
I actually lost a lot of weight in college. I was 180 or so and now I am 155 (5'11"). I exercised and I also changed my eating habits. I used to not eat breakfast and very little lunch, and wondered why I was still chubby. Well it's because I got home and started eating snack foods and drank tons of soda. In college I totally eliminated soda, and ate better foods. I didn't have as much access to junk food because I didn't order out ($$$) and there wasn't a mom there who brought it home. It will take some time, but as long as you feel good about yourself and will yourself to change what you eat it will go smoothly. If you shop for food, completely avoid the "bad food" aisle. If food is tempting you get it completely out of reach. Go out walking or jogging, but do long low-intensity work outs - low-intensity is the way to burn fat. You can also keep it up longer. Really the most important thing is to drink water. It has zero calories, is very easy to do, and will substitute for many of the empty calories you you take it.

Actually I have a problem...
No one believes that I'm 155, they think I'm around 140, I guess my face is gaunt. Still, I would like to lose the little roll I have around my stomach. I do a decent number of crunches every day. What else can I do, besides generally losing more weight, to tone my abs and also my chest (I have tiny remnants of the man-titties left ;)).
