I just bought a E5200 from NewEgg and the stock cooler to put it plainly Sucks
I remember about a year ago I bought a really heavy cooler (With Copper base, Bolt thru No push pins) from FleaBay for $14 Shipped but I cannot seem to find that offer anymore so whats a good generic cooler for the LGA 775 platform under $20

A Q6600 retail cooler and Thermalright bolt through kit? Or an AC Freezer 7 pro with the same Thermalright bolt through kit?
the Thermalright bolt through kit can be purchased at sidewinder for $5 and can be used with nearly any cooler, you just pop off the push pins and use the bolt through kit instead.

ah yes, the e5200 stock coolers suck. I like the copper based stock hsf that came with my e6320, however. ^_^

the half size retail cooler sthat all the 45nm dual cores, and the E1000 / celeron 4xx series come with are terrible.

You coudl probalby just buy a pentium D cooler on ebay. they are pretty heavy duty and very cheap.

yea for a bit i tossed a prescott cooler on my e5200 before i got my S-1283 in from the egg. did a lot better job than the stock one. it didnt even have a copper core base like the thin one my Q9650 came with, which is ironic because my Q9650 actually runs cooler OCed on the stock cooler than my e5200 did @ stock

ed: and yea, order a thermalright bolt through kit and a F7Pro. the stock push pins on my S-1283 broke, and i didnt know the new TRUEs come with the 1366 kit now, so i had a spare set of bolts and the 775 backplate since my buddy needed the TRUE for his i7. remounted the S-1283 with the bolt through kit and with the combination of Chill factor 2 over AS5 and better mounting force it dropped my temps 3c
