My company had their associates meeting today to announce a couple of things and after the Q&A session they gave out prizes. Actually, they had two meetings.

Here's what was given out during my meeting. The first meeting had the same prizes:
2 copies of the Star Wars trilogy
1 copy of the Matrix Trilogy
1 copy of the LoTR trilogy
1 Polaroid DVD player
2 Sony 7.1 megapixel cameras
1 20GB iPod
2 20GB iPods w/personal speaker system
1 15" LCD HDTV
1 17" LCD HDTV

:shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked:

Of course, I didn't win anything. If I existed in the D&D universe, my luck stat would be a -5. I freaking lose games of Candyland and Chutes & Ladders to a 3 year old!

DASM! That would keep me awake through meetings! Of course, my luck is as bad as yours, so I'd never win anything either....:(

At my previous job they had a contest you could win by asnwering questions like: 'What are the names of the VP's daughters? What's the name of the CEO's pet?'

It was so obvious, it was just sick. I'm glad I quit that place.

Sad thing is that the CEO's who think UP gift-giving schemes like that....DON'T EVEN REALIZE IT'S PLAYING FAVORITES!!

These guys are so full of themselves and their accomplishments, they just ASSUME everyone in the room must know the name of their kids and their pets, and want to hang out with them, and want to be just like them.

The idea that there is a polarization in the workforce between the people who know that crap and are perceived as kiss-ups and the people who are just working for a job never occurs to them.

I don't think this one was rigged. A couple of the people that won had only been there for a couple of months at most and the upper-management didn't really know them.

Perhaps the 3 year old is winning on superior intellect and skill.

you won't believe the prizes my company gave away last december. I think I posted about it once but anyway. one was a trip for 2 to italy to have a tailored suit made by giorgio fvcking armani himself, along with dinner with the guy. another prize was a birthday party at the toys r us in times square which they closed down and put the winner's name on the marquee outside.

Possible. But no skill or intellect is involved in either game. Just pure luck of the draw (Candyland) or spin (Chutes). I'm still beating him at Hungry Hungry Hippo though.

Between the two meetings, probably around 150.
