Saw on craigslist a P3 with 20GB HD, WinXP, Word.. for $300. New ones from Dell are priced from $500 after rebates! Are laptops still expensive like this?

Seriously...why are you complaining about the price of one used laptop? Used stuff is priced by the seller--its up to the buyer to determine if the price is right. Hell I sold my old Compaq Presario 1200 (Mobile Thunderbird) for like $400 a year ago...probably was only worth $250 but hey someone bought it.

check out ebay, they are cheaper. Dell Outlet and Dell Auctions are much better for cheaper prices.

I see this price for laptops like this a lot of the times. What's the going rate for them (used laptops) nowadays? 1Ghz laptop with 512 RAM and 40GB HD?

Easy answer, YES.

Check out the prices of P3 class laptops on eBay. It's really pretty ridiculous.
