Good Gaming Laptop for under £1000 :(

I never owned a PC or Laptop in my life. I'll come from a poor family background. I never owned a PC or Laptop in my life. I have ALWAYS wanted a gaming laptop and now I saved up enough money working part time at *** ( not saying where i work ) £3.15/hr.

Anyway, I want a good gaming laptop that can handle almost any game (CoD, L4D, Diablo, Max payne etc ) in high settings maybe? i5 and above and any ios will be fine.

My budget is actually less than £700 but I know I wont get a decent gaming laptop for that amount

Also, please dont tell me to buy a Dekstop, I know its cheaper. The thing is I cant fit my dekstop in my room because i have a really really small room
Like i said I am really poor, just being honest here.

at <£700, you're probably going to have a hard time finding anything.
the best you can do might be a GT 650m. Otherwise you might want to settle for a GT 640m.
you're definitely not getting anything that will play max payne 3 on high settings smoothly, for max payne 3 the 650m would be your best bet to handle medium settings smoothly.

dell sometimes has coupons for their dell outlet, so maybe keep an eye out for one.
If you're lucky, you might be able to find an m14x at the dell outlet.

If space is a limiting problem, you can still build a pretty small gaming desktop, based around mATX or even uITX, or use a cube shaped case which can be used as a small table.

I was going to say you'll want at least a 660m GPU to do what you want. If it were me I'd save some more. Do you know what size you want? I'll stab at a guess your wanting either a 15" or 17" size. Sager and MSI have 15.6" models w/660m for about $900 U.S. or a little less but they are dual core cpu. For a quad and 660m, which would be the ideal, you are looking at around $1150 - $1250 minimum and all these prices dont count in shipping and tax.


Edit: I got those prices looking at what XoticPC offers which is where I would probably buy mine at if I were getting one. GenTech and PCTorque are also good places to buy from.

that ebay link is to a barebones, you'll have to buy and install the ram, hdd, OS, and CPU yourself (add about £300 total unless you have an extra windows 7/8 lying around).

expect to add ~£40 for 4x2 ddr3, whatever storage options you want (you can fit 2 drives; i'd recommend SSD + 2.5" HDD, or for 1 drive, a seagate XT), and anywhere from ~£50-400 for the CPU, i'd expect you'd want to spend at least £100 for an i5 since it's for gaming.

That must have taken some effort to save that kind of money! I hate to be a party pooper but maybe you shouldn't get a fancy laptop. Computer depreciate like crazy because there is always better stuff coming out. They are terrible investments.

With a desktop you can upgrade and keep it going for a while but it not really possible to upgrade a laptop so you are just stuck with what you bought for the most part.

That said if you still get a laptop enjoy it!
