Good gaming 19 inch flat ? Opinions please

I wanted to get a 2005fp from dell but I am so used to a 17 In CRT that a 20 inch would look huge I would think.
19 surely is plenty of a upgrade and should save me some cash.
if there isa great 20 sure but the response times.........and price are issues right ?

But what brand would you guys recommend. dell or just someone else like Sceptre X9G-Gamer

Games are a issue with me but most is just internet work 95% of the time but when I game I surely want it to look great.

I see all of these gamers on shows and here and there are they are using LCDs it seems.
Then again I can't see how good it really looks
I know CRT is the best for just gaming but hte bulk and weight are two things I am tired of and space.
I need more space so it's flat time for me!!

Any info is appreciated

Samsung 997 19"

I got a 19" Syncmaster 955 a year ago and it is great, I think I picked it up for about 175 a year ago. I think the monitor I linked to you is a little better than mine.

crt is not the best for gameing. it seems most peoples train of though on this is three or so years outdated. There is so little differance in the ghoasting from a good LCD to any CRT these days it just doesnt matter anymore. other factors come into play, obviously, but for the most part, LCD is supirior in all but the most depanding pro areas of grafic industry.

But not in cost, LCD costs more. Besides, you will build some muscles when you carry your monitor to a LAN party

hum, thought part was cost and also quality but since I am mistaken throw me some modeks that will kick my Sony Multiscan 17 inch CRT?
Is a LCD 17 like a 19 inch CRT, etc, etc ?
So a 19 inch is like a 20 or 21 inch CRT in screen size ?
I have a widescreen laptop and that 2005 dell has my eye but I keep reading so many bad things about it

This mon is at least 4 or 5 years old and has been a good one but I need a bigger screen BUT i do not have the room to fit one as I need to push it farther from my eyes
( old age getting me , lol )

that is the main reason i need a LCD. Ability to adjust it easy and get me a much later view

thanks so far for the advice
Off to look at that link you gave me Metalhat, thanks

I also don't want do that Dell wait forever deal
I want a newegg type deal where you order it and BAM , its on the door in 2 days.

that gaming LCD is pretty dang cheap there.
I read it's 6 bit or is it a 8 bit or just what
Sure looks like a good one

the CRT I also looked at and it's not too heavy and actually 4 inches of so thinner than this old one I have so it would fit much much better

But the last part was the viewable area. 19 inch CRT vs 19 LCD
LCD has a lot more true area right ?

So I would need to get like a 21 inch CRT to match what most LCDs in the 19 inch range display ?

is that right or bogus info I read ?

I think that samsung sale is over also as it said 5:30 PST and that means it ended or it ends in 7 mins, lol

tick tock tick tock.....

most 21" and 22" crts are 20" viewable. A 19" lcd is a true 19" as with 20" 's and so on. Dont know about the 6 or 8 bit but go to manufac's website and sure they will have its specs. G-luck 🙂 I have heard nothing but great things about that viewsonic. Remember ya get what ya pay for 😉

I think for a gaming LCD, the Viewsonic 912B is a great one to look at. Nothing but positive reviews... I ordered one myself, just gotta wait for it to come in.

The Sceptre X9G looks interesting too, but it's a no-name brand with no reviews to speak of... so it's an interesting dark-horse candidate.

I also think it is true, you get what you pay for... since everything you purchase in your system all boils down to throwing something up on your screen, your monitor is the end-all-be-all end result of everything in your computer... don't pinch pennies on what you stare at every minute you are on your computer. Get the best monitor you can find. If you do your homework right, it should also be the last thing you'll ever need to upgrade (my old Samsung 955DF CRT monitor has outlasted every other part of my computer, till I finally purchased the Viewsonic LCD).

Maybe it's just me, but wouldn't a 17" be the best to go for, seeing as they have the 12ms response time? That would be the best for gaming, and at a 1280x1024 native resolution, you shouldn't feel a loss of desktop real estate or anything like that.

Just my opinion. Remember, it's worth exactly what you paid for it.

I saw a Sony 19inch LCD with DVI at best buy that was 12ms!! Could that be a misprint? It was about $650.

That is the best gaming LCD out there, and yes its 12ms.
Sony SDM-HS94P

I have one and it beats every LCD I've tried in gaming.

Damn, that's nice. 8-bit panel too. Wish it was sold in Canada... 🙁

The Viewsonic VP912B is a 12ms monitor at 19". I just got mine for $545 shipping included at NewEgg.

Haven't heard much on the Sony, but if it's a 12ms with an 8-bit panel, that would be great.

tuff finding a good lcd that can use the max res. for a duel gt6800 Ultra... i did see a 22-24" lcd (and that was one large screen!!) but the response time was like 20-24 (or so)

and most stores near me just have the 17".

It seems there is a lot of talk about the Viewsonic 912B for a good 19" gaming LCD. I don't have one YET so I can only go by the reviews posted on the internet. Some people also like the Dell2001FP.

I was IMing the guy that I got my BFG 6800 from and he has the DELL 2001fp and i got it from him today for Sat delivery. He even opened it to test it and he actually opened a second one as the first has no bad pixels but he said there was some greenish hue or something somewhere. It probably could be adjusted but he opened another new one and it passed all tests for pixels, backlighting and the green was gone

Yea, it was 600 bucks but I trust the guy and I don't have to hope Dell sent me a 'good' one
So if fedex don't break it it should be a good one, 3 years warranty ought to do me fine as well

He has sold over 300 of these models alone and said no one hsa complained.
He said it games great

thanks folks a lot
So many options these days, so many prices, etc, etc
I just jumped in finally and bit it and got that 2001fp

Just so you know, Dell warranties don't transfer. If that monitor goes bad, and the original purchaser won't help you, you're screwed. That's a big chance to take on a $600 item that's as delicate as an LCD.

and what if you want to run your game at a non-native resolution?

Show me an LCD that doesn't look like sh1t from interpolation at non-native resolutions.

Everyone also said the 2005FPW is great for gaming, I got, and it sucked ass. Nothing compared to my CRT. I can't trust anyone.

An NEC 22" FP2141SB is still better than any LCD out there for gaming, don't let anyone tell you different.

Wrong, CRT's are still the best for gaming. NEC 22" FP2141SB is the king.

i am checking on the warranty deal
guy is not a rip off I know that but I do nede to know it's covered
for one I have to sign for it and if it's not on the up and up i won't accept it
but, I know this guy from a year ago so it's not a fly by night dealer

and games is goingto be 5% of my use

So gaming is nice but mainly i need something larger with a great screen for work
