good free screen recorder for recording QA tests

Hi,
So often our QA team will encounter a bug, but have difficulty reproducing it. I want to make them use a screen recorder so they have a trail without having to track actions manually.

Any good recommendations? It doesn't have to have fast/smooth video at all, in fact smaller file sizes would be preferred. doesn't have to record to a video file either, any format works. It would be nice if it highlighted clicks an keypresses too.

Thanks,
Vivan

I have used Camtasia to perform recording of actions. the client wanted demos on how things were working of protoypes; it provided a good capture playback.
You can set the quality of the recording which controls the size of the file.I do not know about keypresses; you should have the UI highlight those.

Have them consider a separate tool to record actions for playback.

drop the good requirement. anything freeware that will let me follow the mouse. doesn't even need to highlight clicks etc.

We use Jing at my work for screenshots and short videos (I think it has a 5 minutes limit, but that sounds adequate for your needs). It's especially nice for quickly marking up screenshots with text and arrows and such. It also has easy one click uploading to screencast.com (images as png, videos as swf) and even auto copies the link into your clipboard once it's done. It's not the most feature rich application out there but it's simple and quick.
