good free proxy package for Freebsd/Solaris

is there any good package out there that doesn't require too much processing overhead?

Don't know too much about it, as I don't use it personally, but if you're just talking web proxy, you probably should check out Squid.. Not sure how much processing overhead it has, but that's the proxy I hear everyone point to in my security groups when people start asking about them.

another vote for squid - fast, free, easy.

Squid should be fine for http. If you want a full SOCKS proxy, look at dante.
